The Byrd Counseling Department & PTA are joining efforts to provide an Information Session for parents of 7th Grade students on Thursday, May 17, from 6-7 p.m. in the Byrd Library. Students are welcome to attend with their parents, too! Mr. Robert Peck (Leadership Specialty Center) and representatives from the Counseling Departments of Godwin, Freeman & Tucker will join Mrs. Rice and Mrs. Kastleburg, Byrd Counseling Department, for this informational session. Teacher Appreciation Week
The week of May 7 - 11 is Teacher Appreciation Week and the PTA is collecting gift cards from local favorites like (Macys, Target, Chick-fil-A, Starbucks, etc.) to be used as raffle prizes for our faculty and staff. Next Friday, the last day of Teacher Appreciation Week, we hope to have multiple drawings both at the beginning and end of the day with all the donations. Can you contribute a gift card? Any denomination or donation would be greatly appreciated. If you can help please donate/drop them in the BRIGHT PINK box in the office labeled "TAW". Byrd Middle School Principal Wins R.E.B. Award
Sharon Pope, the principal at Byrd Middle has won the R.E.B. Award for Distinguished Educational Leadership and Dr. Jodie Brinkman, the principal at Echo Lake Elementary, is the runner-up.
“I know the high caliber of leaders who have earned this recognition, and to be considered in
that league is truly an honor,” Pope said.
The R.E.B. Awards for Distinguished Leadership seeks to recognize principals who go beyond the day-to-day demands of their position to create an exceptional educational environment. Four principals will be publicly recognized, one in each school district of the metropolitan area (i.e. the counties of Chesterfield, Hanover,
Henrico and the City of Richmond). Each award will consist of a $7,500 cash grant to the principal and an additional $7,500 for school projects chosen by the principal. Principals who win this award are those who promote excellence, demonstrate leadership, inspire their students, and are advocates for their school and their faculty. Byrd Middle School First Annual Golf Tournament

Byrd Middle School is excited to be hosting its first Senator Golf Tournament! The Tournament will take place on May 19, 2012 at the Mill Quarter Golf Course, tee time is 1pm.
