Have you ever wondered why we stress the importance of notifying the Byrd Middle School Registrar of

changes to your address or telephone number?

We consider communication between Byrd faculty and staff with parents and students vital to your child’s academic success.

Ways in which we reach out to parents and students include:

Ø      E-mail.

Ø      Phone calls to home, cell or work numbers.

Ø      Connect ed phone messages from Byrd MS and HCPS central office.

Ø      Group mailings from Byrd MS and HCPS central office which includes report cards, test scores, back to school letters, technology and transportation information as well as changes to HCPS policy.

Reporting address changes is particularly important because your child’s transportation to and from school is dependant on your address in our electronic data being current and correct.

HCPS residency guidelines state  “a child must attend school in the zone/district where he/she resides with a parent or legal guardian. The parent/legal guardian must report an address change and provide residency documentation within ten days of their move.”  Transportation services are denied until the address change is reported and documented with the Byrd Middle School registrar.

Twice a school year, a hard copy of your child’s Student Information Record is sent home for your review.  This is an opportunity for you to make corrections as necessary to the address, phone numbers and contact names assigned by you for your child.  We ask that when corrections are made to your child’s SIR form they are printed clearly and legibly.

The spring copy of your child’s SIR will come home for your review with the third marking period interim report the week of March 15th.

If you have any questions regarding change of address, phone number or contact information for your child, please don’t hesitate to call Byrd Middle School registrar, Betsy Noe, 804-750-2636.
